Christmas Movie List

December 1st! The Christmas month is officially here (not to mention, my BIRTHDAY month) - woo hoo!! As we all know, there are 24 days until Christmas and I am quite sure I could watch a movie a day and still not make it through all of the movies that have been made about the holiday. The following list (which I also wrote about last year) goes in no particular order - just a list of Christmas movies I like. If I've missed your favorite (for example, I have never seen Miracle on 34th Street!), I'm sorry and please let me know what I'm missing out on! Now, grab a bag of popcorn, some eggnog, a cozy blanket and join me in my Christmas Movie Fest

1. The Muppet Christmas Carol
2. It's A Wonderful Life
3. How the Grinch Stole Christmas (Jim Carrey)
4. The Bishop's Wife

24. Little House on the Prairie - Christmas

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
Luke 2:8-14

"And that's what Christmas is all about Charlie Brown."

  1. We've already seen Elf a couple times (my favorite!) and Christmas Vacation. But I totally forgot about a lot of these movies until you mentioned them. I remember watching the Muppet Christmas Carol over and over again as a kid!

  2. Great list. I had to dvr Rudolph last night because it was past my kids' bedtime, but they are looking forward to a lot of movie nights.

    Happy Birthday.

  3. I second Christmas Vacation! I also love The Family Stone. I know it didn't get great reviews but I adore it as a Christmas film...

  4. A girlfriend and I were just talking about Charlie Brown Christmas last night. Seriously, every time I hear Linus reciting that Luke passage I get a lump in my throat. It is such my favorite Christmas special.

I HAVE to watch the Nutcracker every Christmas season (Baryshnikov's of course...)
