CSN Win: UPDATE

You may recall that back in the autumn I won a giveaway from No Ordinary Homestead. Tiffany generously offered one of her lucky readers a $45 gift certificate to CSN and I happened to be the lucky reader! I knew I wanted to use the certificate to buy something for the rental house, but I wasn't sure what we were going to need, so I just held on to the certificate code. Until January - when I finally decided to buy something with it.

Only to discover it had expired on December 31, 2010...Noooooooooo!!!!

I wrote to CSN and explained my stupidity and begged them for grace. A very nice man wrote me back and explaned that they couldn't give me the credit back, but he offered me an alternative. I could "earn" the $45 back by writing a post about CSN and mentioning one specific store. You might remember reading that post last month. I wasn't working yet, so within a few minutes of receiving his email, I had a post written and published and had sent the link back to him. As a thank you for working with them, he not only gave me my original winnings back ($45), but he added $20 so that I now had $65 to shop with! Let me just tell you that there was a major {happy dance} going on in this house. There's even a possibility that I'll be able to work with them again in the future and offer a giveaway of my own to one of you lucky ducks!

With $65 to spend at CSN, I was a bit more picky about what I would buy. I wanted to get the most bang for my buck and I also wanted to combine it with a product that fell under the "Free Shipping" catagory. I looked at kitchen appliances, knife sets, bedding and more before I finally settled on the perfect item for the rental house. It was totally practical, the price was perfect ($64.99), the shipping was free, and there was no tax. What was this item? The Waste King 9910 Legend Series 1/3 HP Garbage Disposal - as seen below.

Would I want a heavier duty one for my house? Yes (and I have one). However, free perks like this are perfect for a rental home and when the box arrived and I pulled it out in all it's free glory, the {happy dance} commensed again. I couldn't be more pleased with the service I received from CSN - especially since it was my own dumb fault for not paying attention to the expiration date when I received the code. They were a pleasure to work with and I hope I can do so again in the future - this time getting something great for you guys in the process!

And that's my update. As promised way back in the fall. Thanks again Tiffany! If it's not too weird, I'll think of you everytime I grind up stuff in the rental house sink. {grin}

  1. What a lovely garbage disposal! It's so funny you would end up with something like this since it's one thing we thought we would never survive without in Germany. But here it is, 10 years later, and we still don't have one. At first they just didn't really sell them here...and now they are just still wickedly expensive. But I look forward to one day living in the US again and having one again! :)

    So glad CSN worked with you to replace the certificate! You actually reminded me that I have one I need to spend before next Tuesday. Yipes! ;)

    Thanks for the shout out and hope the new renters (whenever that might be) thoroughly enjoy their free garbage disposal. So glad you could use the money on something so useful!!

  2. You are the queen of practicality. And I'm soooo jealous. You KNOW I would have blown that money on a pair of shoes. Way to be wise, Carrie! You are such a good example to me. I'm so glad I "know" you.
