Links and Reminders

I'm a blank canvas today as far as blog ideas, so I thought I would share a couple of posts that I read over the last week as well as offer up a reminder to you. Here we go...

If you struggle with having a closest full of clothes but nothing to wear, then I recommend reading Rachel's post about shopping. Her flow chart caused much laughter in our house last night and Peter said, "So that's why you read her blog - practical AND funny!" If you haven't found Small Notebook yet, then I recommend checking out her other posts as well. Rachel blogs about everything from simplifying and streamlining a home to traveling the world with small children (they just returned from a stint in Italy), and they are currently in the process of remodeling their very first home - a 70's ranch house - which she has been photo journaling on Small Notebook. I can't wait to see the finished product!

Thanks to the Nester's 31 day link ups, I just stumbled on to Pancakes and French Fries where Jules is currently writing about cleaning out her home, a la William Morris {Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful}. On Day 12, Jules attacked her front coat closet and on Day 13, she wrote about wrapping paper and gift sacks - it hit a little too close to home.

And finally, although I can't pick any one specific post, I feel compelled to recommend that you check out Anne at The Modern Mrs. Darcy. Perhaps it's because of her blog name and my love of Jane Austen, or maybe it's because she was married on the exact same day as me and she gives some very smart marriage advice, but whatever the case, it's a blog that I have been enjoying and I thought I'd pass it along to you. No charge.

*  *   * If you haven't left a comment >>>HERE<<< to win my favorite cookbook (300 Sensational Soups) this week, you have until tomorrow night to do so. So many good recipes and you could get it for FREE! *   *   *

AND (I know, the mind reels that there could be more)...

In honor of this momentous occasion, we're giving away two copies of the book through the Little Brother Facebook page, so make sure you click >>>HERE<<< or >>>HERE<<< for more details about that giveaway (ends tomorrow)!

  1. Speaking of Mashed Potates...

My 4-yr-old son joined me one morning while I read your blog, and when he saw the Mashed Potatoes button on the sidebar, he commented, "I LIKE that book, Mom."

You have the four-year-old seal of approval - just thought you should know! :)

  3. "Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful." -- WOW!! Love that!! Think I'll write this down and keep it handy when I start cleaning out my home spaces... Which will hopefully happen if I ever stop house sitting!!!

  6. Apparently we're reading ALL the same things! Including Mashed Potatoes which is about to go the way of Fancy Nancy and Good Night Moon (hidden on a shelf) because they can't get enough.

That is a good sign. :)
