My Garden Life {Week 4}

Time for the weekly update on our ever-growing container garden! I am happy to announce that we have not only harvested our first tomatoes, but we have devoured them and they were every bit as delicious as only a homegrown tomato can be! I wish you kind people were closer to be able to share them, but since so many of you have gardens of your own, I know you know what I'm talking about. So without further ado, here are the photos for this week, including yet another surprise from the ashes of the fire pit! For more fun garden updates, check out the weekly garden link-up this Friday at No Ordinary Homestead.

The larger gourd fell off the vine, and the smaller gourd was accidentally chopped off by the weed eater - now they are just waiting to be used in fall decorating!

And FINALLY...{drum roll} the newest SURPRISE plant!

Yet another decorative gourd that was thrown in the fire this spring has come to life again and is giving me more decorative gourds for the autumn! Hooray and {happy dance}!!

  2. Your tomatoes look very yummy! And so many more to come. Love your little pumpkins -- and the new gourd. So funny that they keep popping up out of the ashes. Never know what you might find next. That must have been the easiest planting method yet ;)

  3. @Kaysi - if you lived closer, we would gladly share! :-)

    @Tiffany - it was without a doubt the easiest planting method yet! Haha!

  4. Wow, those are some big peppers. Love tomatoes. Have you tried growing heirloom ones before?

  5. @Caren - Thanks for stopping by! I'm not sure if I've grown heirloom before. When it comes down to it, my version of gardening is "stick it in the ground and/or pot, water it, and hope it grows"! :-) So if a tag said "heirloom", I'm not sure I'd notice. Do you recommend them, and if so, what are the benefits?
