When Dreams Come True

December 10, 2011: Turning 30 had more of an impact on me than I expected. While I wasn't depressed or feeling old, and my "clock" didn't start ticking at the stroke of midnight, I was struck by the fact that my 20's were over and 40 was only ten years away(!).

My 20's were, by no means, boring or wasted. The "short" list of accomplishments included graduating from college, traveling the world, swimming with jellyfish, driving to Alaska, publishing a book, purchasing an investment property, starting an electrical business, and finally landing a "real" job.

But there was still a feeling that I had yet to find my purpose ...

January 9, 2012: Frustrated and discouraged, I was just about ready to give up on the blog and my dreams of ever finding work that I enjoyed. With my entry into a new decade of life and the beginning of a new year, I decided to make a list of three things that I would work on (re: the blog) and give it one more "college try" before making a final decision.

To have some kind of accountability, I shared my goals on Facebook ...

It was shortly after I posted my goals, that I opened a Twitter account. I followed a few people and sent a tweet every so often, but for the majority of the time, it was unused ... until April.

In April, two things happened. The first was when I finally decided to give notice at the pharmacy. I'd had enough of pill counting and customer service, and with Peter's new job, it seemed like the right time to try something new. As I told him - "If I don't go after my goals now, I'm never going to do it."

The second incident involved Peter getting a new smart phone. And while that might not seem like any big deal, it was to me. You see, that's when he told me that I should give up my old flip phone and take over ownership of his first generation Droid. I resisted. Oh, how I resisted! In the end, he talked me in to it, and when he was setting it up for me, he asked a simple question: "Do you want a Twitter button?"

Twitter? Oh yeah, I have a Twitter account. Well sure, why not? Easier to use? I can do that.

And that's how I met @beckyrbnsn via @mollypg.

Did you hear that? It was the sound of my life changing at the speed of Twitter.

And did you read this? That's the guest post that I wrote for Becky's website yesterday. {Happy Dance}

Goal #2? Check!

{If you want to help me reach goal #1, I only need 15 people to like Busy Nothings on Facebook}

What's YOUR dream?
Have you turned any dreams into goals?
Are you taking steps towards making them happen?
