Thankful For :: 511 - 520

This has been a bit of a roller coaster week for us for various reasons - none of which I will get into on the blog. Let's just say that on Monday, I was wondering if I was going to have anything to be thankful for this week and God reminded me that I need to give thanks in all circumstances. Wait...isn't that even a Bible verse? Why yes, yes it is. It's like God knew that His kids were going to stumble and fall and fail and whine and need a reminder that it's not about circumstances, it's about leaning on Him through it all.

Lesson learned. Again.

[...] pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
{1 Thessalonians 5:17-18}

I certainly got a lesson in praying continually as the week unfolded. I'm just sorry it took something serious to remind me to do so. {sigh} Remember what I wrote last week? Work in progress. Sometimes I feel like I need to wear that on a sign around my neck.

This week I'm thankful for...

511. My dad

512. Doctors, nurses, and pharmacists

513. Sick time

514. Making decisions about the future (more prayer required...lots more prayer)

515. Peter's amazing work ethic - he astounds me

516. Miss Marple shows on YouTube

517. Flexible co-workers

518. New cookbooks

519. Having a Heavenly Father I can rely on, and not trusting in our (now much smaller) 401K

520. The first tomatoes of the 2011 garden season

I encourage you to take time to count your blessings today.
And if you count your family among your blessings - tell them.

  1. Using my Miss Marple skills to deduce that something happened with your Dad this week. Hope all is well.

    When you get your "Work in progress" sign for around your neck would you please buy me one too? Maybe we can get a discount if we buy in bulk.

  2. Hey Molly - thanks. It could have been worse, so we're glad that everything turned out okay with him, but there are still a couple of things we're watching. It's never easy to see your parents get older. :-(

    Buy signs in bulk. Check. :-)

  3. I've read a verse recently that says Even in darkness, light shines for the upright, for the gracious and compassionate (wo)man. Love that verse! Thinking of you and so glad that you're still thanking him despite the setbacks and challenges.

  4. Love #519 in particular. A concept I've been thinking about a lot lately.
