Celebrating George

Since I mentioned dear old Abe on the 12th, I decided it was only fitting to make mention of another great President's birthday today - the first leader of our country in it's early days - George Washington. Like President Lincoln, he led our country during an uncertain and difficult time. He provided leadership and showed bravery to his men during the Revolutionary War. He continued to lead and guide as the U.S. became a country and set up laws and jurisdiction and political offices. And he had some great quotes along the way...Happy Birthday George!

Associate yourself with men of good quality if you esteem your own reputation for 'tis better to be alone than in bad company.

Be courteous to all, but intimate with few, and let those few be well tried before you give them your confidence. True friendship is a plant of slow growth, and must undergo and withstand the shocks of adversity before it is entitled to the appellation.

It's wonderful what we can do if we're always doing.

  1. I kind of love that middle quote about friendship. I think I need to put that one in my brain for life.
