My {5}

{1}
You may have noticed that I've been doing a bit of re-reading the last couple of weeks. One of my all-time favorite sets of books is the Anne of Green Gables collection (Books 1-5 are my true favorites, #6 is only saved by the romantic ending, and Rainbow Valley and Rilla are simply tolerated due to the lack of focus on Anne and Gilbert). Anyway, The Complete Anne of Green Gables Boxed Set is available at Amazon, and if you don't have it on your bookshelves already, then by all means, BUY IT!

If you've read the books, then chances are, you have strong opinions about the the collection of Anne films. I find the first movie to be the most enjoyable - probably because it sticks a tiny bit closer to the book, and even though I cringe at the plot modifications in the second film, and movie #3 is a total joke, they remain some of my favorite chick flicks and no list would be complete without them.

Okay, so you know I'm not a mother, but I have to recommend this post to you that my dear friend, Joy, wrote. You might recognize a couple of people in the post photo. {ahem} Joy wrote a wonderful little tribute to my sweet mama, passing on the 3 C's of mothering that my mother shared with Joy (and dozens of other women over the years). This post is the first of those C's, with two more posts to follow (make sure you don't miss them).

You know I have a bit of a "thing" for Dee's creations over at Red Letter Words. In fact, I've featured them in previous {5} posts, as well as in my thankfulness and Christmas wish lists. Well, this time I'm sharing because Dee sent out an announcement that all of her Travel collection of prints is on SALE for the month of March! Of course this is just in time for my self-imposed no-spend month, but for those of you who aren't bound by such things and are looking for some super cute art at a discount, might I suggest adding some travel themed canvases to your walls this month? If I were free to do so, I'd be selecting the Boston print to hang in the house, as a reminder of our year there.

And, it's March, which means one thing to me: St. Patrick's Day. I'm more Scottish than anything else, but it's a Scotch-Irish blend (along with a dash of English and a pinch of Cherokee), so I lay claim to the holiday as much as any Irish person. At any rate, I love holiday decorating, but with the whole simplifying kick that I've been on, I'm also looking for ways to decorate a bit more subtly, and I think this pillow would help to do the trick! What a month to decide to go frugal.

  1. I've only read the first two Anne books and that was years ago... Maybe I should give one a try!!

  2. Molly - you absolutely SHOULD give the Anne books another chance! I have to wonder, though, if I love them so much because they are well written (and I truly think they ARE), or because they also bring up happy memories from my childhood. I'd be interesting in hearing your take on it if you read one of them again. I'd suggest starting from Book #1 so that you know who the characters are, but at the same time, you should know that books #3 and #4 are my favorites. :-)

  3. Thanks girlie! Hannah is reading the Anne series now, I think I may join her! :)

A reminder: there are more than 400,000 words in the English language, please use them wisely.
