When God Whispers...

For several months now, I've been trying to ignore the still small voice of the Holy Spirit. It's uncomfortable what is being asked of me. It's not easy. In fact, it's downright crazy. Peter and I have talked, avoided, prayed, and put off dealing with what we know the Lord is asking of us. And how do we know? How can we be so sure when we are seriously quaking in our boots?

Because He keeps throwing it in our laps. Facebook posts, news reports, friends, books, blogs, complete strangers - each and every one of them, without knowing it, confirms that the Lord is leading us towards something very hard, very scary, and very life changing.

I don't know details. I don't know when or where or how, but I do know that if He's so clearly leading us towards *this* then we'd better follow. I know that if He's asking us to trust and obey, that He will also be there to guide us. I know that it's probably going to be the hardest thing we've ever done, and that there are going to be days when I wish I could go back in time, but I also know that He who calls us, is faithful.
“If we desire our faith to be strengthened, we should not shrink from opportunities where our faith may be tried, and therefore, through trial, be strengthened.” ― George Mueller

When God whispers... are you ready to listen?

  1. I tried to comment and I didn't see it show up, so sorry if this is a repeat! But, I just wanted to suggest the book "Anything" by Jennie Allen. It is a WONDERFUL book - so encouraging - and I think it would be good for you to read now. It's an easy read - good to read slowly and digest or sit up late one night and read it all. Will be praying for you!

  2. I can't wait to see how the Lord leads you Carrie. Things always seem scary in thought, but God gives you grace you can't imagine when you're actually doing it! Foster care was overwhelmingly scary until we did it, now it's a delight and a joy. I'm praying that God will strengthen your resolve, and that you will place your hope in his goodness.
