You Capture...Inspiration

The theme for You Capture this week @I Should Be Folding Laundry is "What Inspires You". I had trouble coming up with an answer, but then something popped into my head: my parents. They just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this week-end and I think 50 years of marriage is pretty inspirational. I try not to post pictures of family members or friends on the blog, but I think this is an exception. Below that are two other things that inspire me...enjoy!

I inherited good genes - they look pretty good for being almost 70, don't they?

I find the Pilgrims very inspiring - to cross the Atlantic on the tiny Mayflower, to come to a new and unknown world, to face a hard winter and bury many of their group, to leave all that they knew so that they could have religious freedom...inspiring.

God's Word inspires me - it is living and active

CAMERA INFO: I've had several people ask what kind of camera I use, so I thought I would let the cat out of the bag - it's a KODAK! We purchased a Kodak EasyShare back in 2004 when we took our first trip to Africa. We upgraded to a new Kodak EasyShare in 2005 when we worked in Botswana and Zambia, then Mozambique, Lesotho, and South Africa. It even went with us when we worked in Indonesia in '07, but while in Indo, we decided it was time to upgrade again. Prior to heading back to Lesotho we purchased our current camera, the Kodak EasyShare Z812 IS (8.1 mega pixels, 12X zoom with image stabilizer, and a high definition video camera). It's still working great, but I do have my eye on the latest and greatest EasyShare, the Z981 (14 mega pixels, 26X wide angle optical image stabilized zoom, and 3.0 LCD). Dear Santa...

  1. I love this post! 50 years of marriage is definitely a reason to celebrate. How exciting (and inspiring!). I was thrilled to find your blog. It has been fun to catch up on your life (I especially loved reading your "how-we-met" story!).

  2. Aww, 50 years is definitely inspiring!! People who fall in love, and stay in love are unfortunately a rare things anymore. My husband's parents have been together for about 35 years and they are still totally in love. It's so sweet. I can only hope that Stefan and I can say the same in another 25 years :)

Like your other ideas of inspiration too. This one should be an interesting You Capture!

  3. That's a nice picture of your parents - congratulations to them on 50 years! That is inspirational.

Incidentally, what were the Pilgrims doing in Paris??? ;o)

  4. @Beth - Hahaha! I thought about that when I was putting this picture up. Most people don't know that the Pilgrims had a detour to Paris on their way to the new world. You know, just for a little sight-seeing with a tower that wasn't built yet. ;-)

  9. What a lovely tribute to your parents and yes, they look very youthful for almost 70. If I think about the pilgrims I too think about how courageous they were.
