On Assignment :: Week 4

NOTE: Starting this week Beth is hosting "On Assignment" on Wednesday instead of Monday - but since I already have a Wednesday theme (book reviews/recommendations), I'll still be posting on Monday and then linking up on Wednesday over at beth stone studio. Are you totally confused yet? Don't worry, if you forget to check her blog on Wednesday I'll post a reminder at the end of my regular Wednesday post.

The assignment this week is to write a poem. I might have been an English major in college, but I am not a poet. I even considered skipping this week of the assignment, but finally decided to give it a shot - so show some grace and read this knowing I never claimed to be a poet (or even to like poetry!)...

Ode to a Pumpkin
(of course!)
By Carrie Graham Koens

Orange and green, white and blue,
They come in every color and hue.

They can be tall and slim or short and stout,
But no matter their shape, I'll always pick one out! {groan}

They grow in a field or in a back yard,
They are helping turn me into a bard.
(STOP! You're making it worse!)

They always bring a smile to my face,
Whatever the time, wherever the place.

Pumpkins are so much fun you see,
So here's one for you, and two for me!

THE END
(and it couldn't come soon enough!)

Remember, the link up isn't today, it's on Wednesday - so make sure you head over there mid-week to check out Beth's poem and other link-ups. I'm sure they will be better than the above example! If you want to read one of my favorite poems/songs, you can read it by clicking HERE.
